Yes, but if your metabolism is higher you will burn calories faster than someone with a slow metabolism.

Yes, it is the rate of metabolism or metabolic rate that contributes to weight loss or weight gain. First of all, let me tell you what does metabolic rate mean? So that you can easily get my point. Metabolic Rate is the rate at which the body burns up calories. Your body weight is maintained because of your metabolic rate. For example, a body consumes 2500 calories per day, and burns 2500 calories per day will stay at the same weight. This is because amount of calories taken in and burn off is equal that is in balance. So weight will also be maintained. But the body that consumes 2500 calories daily and burning only 2000 calories per day will gain weight at the rate of about 1lb a week. Because body is storing 500 calories per day that will result in weight gain. And if a body consumes 2500 calories per day and burns off 3000 calories will loose weight at the rate of about 1 lb a week. You can make weight loss quicker and easier by increasing your metabolic rate and burning more calories. You can do so many things that speed up your metabolic rate and exercise is one of them. So, in other words you can say that it depends on amount of exercise and calories, but more specifically it is due to the metabolic rate.
